Abstract: Abstract: This graduation project explores the emotional bond between people and their companion animals through the lens of documentary photography. Its primary objective was to create a series of three photobooks that document from within the context of daily life the relationships three participants share with their pets. The study is grounded in three theoretical frameworks: attachment theory, social support theory, and biophilia; it also engages with the work of visual artists such as Martin Usborne, Tim Flach, and Seth Casteel. The project employs a qualitative approach, rooted in research-creation and the use of digital photography as a tool for inquiry. Sessions took place in each participant s home, capturing the routines and moments of intimacy that define their life together with their pets. This process yielded three thematic pillars proximity, companionship, and instinctive connection each corresponding to one of the documented relationships. These were translated into three handmade, accordion-style books, which were subsequently presented as part of a museum exhibition. The research concludes that photography when paired with the right medium and materials preserves elements that are often lost in purely digital formats, providing a lasting space for the bond between people and their companion animals to endure.
