| Abstract: | Abstract: This Curricular Integration Project explores synesthesia as a creative stimulus for the visual translation of music by American rapper Mac Miller through abstract painting. Drawing on a theoretical framework that links art, music, and emotion, the study analyzes how color can function as an intersemiotic translation of sound, incorporating insights from Kandinsky, John Cage, Luigi Russolo, and Melissa McCracken. Furthermore, it examines hip-hop as an integrative aesthetic system and Mac Miller s body of work as a source of emotional inspiration, focusing the analysis on three songs "Cinderella," "Woods," and "Love Lost" which represent different stages of a romantic experience. Employing a qualitative, practice-based artistic methodology, the project involved a process of active listening, chromatic exploration, and painterly action, resulting in a triptych of abstract works. The study concludes that sound-to-visual translation enables the development of a unique pictorial language, revealing the evolution of the creative gesture throughout the process. |
