Abstract: The aim of this study was to assess the memory footprint in the acquisition of clinical skills in performing the Ophthalmic Examination in students from the seventh cycle of the medicine career of the UTPL, using the Objective Structured Clinical Evaluation (OSCE) in the traditional mode and virtual mode, at the end of the workshop and at the end of the cycle. The study was descriptive, with a transversal approach and quantitative design which was applied to a sample of 46 students from 7th cycle, randomly divided into two groups of 23 students. The workshop to the first group was given using the traditional mode, and for the other group the virtual mode was used. The assessment by the OSCE to assess the memory footprint in the acquisition of clinical skills in performing Ophthalmological examination. The results were: "Good 26.09%, "Satisfactory" 26.09%, "Enough" 47.82% in traditional mode and “Good" 13.04%, "Satisfactory" 26.09%, "Enough" 60.87% in virtual mode. In conclusion there is “no significant difference” (CI 95%, pV >0.05) in the memory footprint acquired between traditional mode and virtual mode. The benefits of virtual mode seem to be of short duration, but more studies need to be done.
