English language students and their motivation to learn the language

Abstract

This work intends to determine the motivation that is implicit when students are learning English, I considered very important to do this research in public schools in Quito because it is a different private schools reality and my first thought was that maybe the students from these institutions did not realize the importance of learning English, but what I found changed my way of thinking positively. The survey was designed to gather information from participants about their feelings in the classroom. The subjects were students from a school in Quito, studying tenth and eleventh grade. The methods used to collect and analyze information were qualitative and quantitative. The results in this study establish that the majority of students in a class, potentially feel motivated to learn English, recognizing that it is essential to their lives, as to the professional and personal growth.
