Abstract: The present study has as main objective to investigate the difficulties of the student's listening comprehension in the EFL classroom found in EFL students to improve their listening comprehension. The population selected for the research was 125 students from 5 different classes of English of superior level of Ecuadorian private schools of the city of Quito, as well as 5 teachers who work with these courses. Data were collected both quantitatively and qualitatively to detect the problems of listening through surveys, interviews and note-taking. The results were tabulated, analyzed and contrasted with each other to have a clearer idea about the difficulties of students' listening comprehension in the EFL class. The results show that although the students have a good understanding of the auditory input, they still share some difficulties when they listen to material for the first time, when they are faced with doubts and stop in part of the speaker, ie unknown words, grammatical structures Difficult and lack of vocabulary. Research provides appropriate and useful recommendations for overcoming these problems by listening to material in English.
