Estudio de la demanda social y pertinencia de la carrera de psicología clínica en alumnos de segundo y tercero de Bachillerato de la provincia de Zamora Chinchipe

Abstract

The goal of the present study was to analyze the social demand of the career of clinical psychology by the students of the Zamora Chinchipe province, with the aim of identifying the professional preferences of the students and the main reasons that lead them to develop such career. Additionally, it was determined whether there are gender differences among those students who wish to develop clinical psychology studies in the future. The design of this study was a quantitative, descriptive and transversal type, applied to students of high school of both the second and third years of the public schools of the Zamora Chinchipe province. The results have indicated that 13% of the surveyed subjects want to study clinical psychology as a first option, being the second career with the highest demand, and finding that the majority of such students are women. Taking into account the social demand found, the results point to the need to implement and promote the career of clinical psychology in the university field, from a gender perspective.
