Description: Portfolio assessment is a learner-centered assessment that focuses on enhancing multiple dimensions of learning. The present thesis shows the development and implementation of two major portfolio assessments. The first one aims to reflect the achievement and improvement of a Korean student in an English-as-a -Foreign-Language (EFL) writing classroom, and includes different samples that indicate how the students’ writing performance was assessed. The second one, a “Standards Based Positioning Paper”, is a compilation of the author’s entire learning experiences whilst attending a Masters’ TELF program, one which was strongly linked to TESOL standards (Teachers of English to Speakers of Other Languages Standards). The collection of artifacts, and their critiques, highlights the most relevant experiences drawn from the program. In closing, these two major folio components have been supported by widely researched bibliographic and scientific information about assessment and portfolio construction; observing the importance of assessment and its methods, as well as the role of constructivism in assessment and portfolio development.
