| Abstract: | The present work was carried out in order to know the perception and opinion of the inhabitants of Cuenca’s canton on environmental reality, this work presents various topics that are important to the inhabitants such as: environment, water, markets, quality of life, citizen participation and gender equity. The methodology designed to meet the objective of this study was based on the application of 384 surveys the inhabitants of Cuenca’s canton; in addition to having conducted a rigorous review of the literature and visit to government agencies, experts in such matters. The majority of the inhabitants have a general awareness of the issues dealing with the survey, but do not have background knowledge on how to help improve certain themes for the better and therefore for the sake of the canton. Citizen participation more than being a constitutional right is a fundamental pillar for the realization of changes in the canton giving this as a result of the improvement in the quality of life of the population who resides in this place. |
| Description: | El presente trabajo se realizó con el objetivo de conocer la percepción y opinión de los habitantes del cantón Cuenca sobre la realidad socio-ambiental, dicho trabajo presentó diversos temas que son importantes para los habitantes como: medio ambiente, agua, mercados, calidad de vida, participación ciudadana y equidad de género. La metodología realizada para cumplir el objetivo de este estudio se basó en la aplicación de 384 encuestas a los habitantes del cantón Cuenca; además de haber realizado una rigurosa revisión bibliográfica y visitas a entes gubernamentales expertos en dichos temas. La mayoría de los habitantes presentan un conocimiento general sobre los temas que aborda la encuesta, pero no tienen conocimientos a fondo sobre cómo ayudar a mejorar ciertos temas para su bien y por ende para el bien del cantón. La participación ciudadana a más de ser un derecho constitucional es un pilar fundamental para la realización de cambios en el cantón dando esto como resultado el mejoramiento de la calidad de vida de la población que reside en este lugar. |
