El realismo mágico en la novela juvenil María Manglar de la escritora Edna Iturralde

Abstract

The aim of this research is to analyze from the literary perspective of magical realism the novel Maria Manglar written by the Ecuadorian novelist Edna Iturralde through hermeneutics, narratology and critical to assess it within the field of literature for young people and children. The qualitative approach was used in this research. the exploratory and descriptive were the levels of investigation applied. The information collection techniques implemented were: the bibliographic and documentary, comparative, hermeneutics and literary criticism. The results of this study evidence that this is a literary work that reflects the magic realism, because from the beginning to the end of the story it can be found fantastic facts as part of reality. The reasons of magical realism are in its main character, María Manglar in respect of the mystery of her presence, her physical and psychological traits. Other evidence is the passage in which she uses his powers to destroy tractors, backhoes and machinery of the shrimp ponds, this supernatural fact made the settlers to think it as a miracle. The use of linear and flashback techniques is another evidence of magical realism.
