Historia de la prensa escrita ecuatoriana liberal, un camino hacia la libertad

Abstract

This paper locates and records primary and secondary sources of the History of the Press in Ecuador, starting from the liberal press in the period 1821 - 1912, it‟s origin and influence in journalism with Premiere of the Culture of Quito (1821), the rise of the Radical Liberal Revolution (1895-1912) and the principles of the freedom of the press (1812). It is based with the selected bibliography of primary sources, extracted from collections of newspapers, magazines and leaflets of the XVIII and XIX century and other academic / sectional descriptive research. This study is part of the national research project "History of Communication Ecuador: press, radio, television and digital media "implemented by the Department of Science Communication of UTPL, since 2012. The research reviews the main theoretical foundations of freedom press and expression in Ecuador; the political and social impact of the Radical Liberal Revolution (1895-1912) in our country and its influence on the general thinking of journalism
