Relación entre el Uso Problemático de las TIC, el Consumo de Sustancias y su Impacto en la Salud Mental en estudiantes de bachillerato de la cuidad de Quito e Ibarra en la zona 9, distrito 5, circuito 10 y zona 1, distrito 1 circuito 7 en el año lectivo 2015-2016

Abstract

The present study analyzed the relationship between problematic use of ICT, substance use and its impact on mental health in high school students in the city of Quito and Ibarra in zone 9, district 5, circuit 10 and zone 1, District 1 circuit 7 in the academic year 2015-2016.

The main objective of this study was to analyze the distribution of substance use, ICT use and mental health indicators in high school students.

An exploratory, descriptive and transversal design was used based on a battery of psychological instruments designed to measure the variables present in the study. The population of this study was 50 students between 14 and 17 years old, 25 of first of high school and 25 of second of Bachillerato.

The study showed that tobacco and alcohol consumption predominate in the sample, and the use of technologies such as cell phones and computers. In relation to the use of the cell phone the most relevant reasons is the access to social networks, instant messaging and telephone calls.
