Abstract: Natural polymers also known as biopolymers, are macromolecules synthesized by living beings therefore biodegradable, it can be made a limited number of chemical transformations to obtain products with different properties. The present research aims to provide new knowledge about the existence of natural sources of biodegradable polymers from vegetable origin. The methodology consisted in collecting the material in two ecosystems where there are natural populations of Physalis peruviana L., carrying out four tests that allowed us to manufacture this biopolymer: test 1 (Ice-water extraction), test 2 (Soxhlet Extraction ), test 3 (Cellulose Extraction) and test 4 (Cellulose and Starch) and evaluate their physical, chemical and biological properties. As for the results, a biopolymer based on calyx of Physalis peruviana L. could be obtained allowing us to elaborate a stable protocol for its elaboration and physical, chemical and biological properties were evaluated without differences in the characteristics of the biopolymer and in the ecosystem where it is collected
