An experimental design was proposed with 28 Setaria sphpacelata seedlings from the San Francisco scientific station, which were re-planted, once the seedlings were adapted, the fertilization treatments were performed. T0 (without fertilization), T50 (0.5 g nitrogen / 1000 ml water) T100 (1g nitrogen / 1000ml), T150 (1.5g nitrogen / 1000ml), once finished the post fertilization cuts were established. Cut 1 (C1) was carried out one month after fertilization was done, Cut 2 (C2) after two months and finally Cut 3 (C3) was carried after four months. The results obtained were the presence of calcium oxalate in Setaria shpacelata, evidenced in the TLC (Thin Layer Chromatography), on the other hand the fertilization showed a positive effect towards the linear growth of the plants in the different cutting times. The final results show that the treatments promote the optimal linear growth of the plant. Emphasizing the treatment T150 for presenting an optimum linear development and an oxalate concentration of 22.60 ppm which is enclosed within the non-toxic values for livestock.es_ES
