Abstract

The use of the Internet as an interconnection link between client and server side applications is the means of mass flow of information that has been used for several years by the Universidad Técnica Particular de Loja (UTPL). As the Internet is a public network, it has allowed the creation of various mechanisms to usurp, alter or steal the information especially considered sensitive, and can cause a great damage to the users of the systems. The information flowing through the UTPL systems is classified as sensitive because it has a personal and private criterion, the acquisition, manipulation or distribution of all or part of it would be an attack against the most basic rights that characterize any free society. For this reason, a great amount of hardware and software has been created that allow to mitigate these evils that are so frequent today and that generate some suspicion when making any transaction via web, such as the entry of usernames and passwords As well as online purchases with credit cards.
