La figura del femicidio en la prensa de Ecuador en los años 2015 y 2016. Análisis de contenido de los diarios: El Universo y el Comercio

Abstract

Abstract: This document analyzes de treatment that two of the Ecuador's major circulation newspaper diaries: El Universo and El Comercio, make on the femicide figure, recently included as a crime in the Código Orgánico Integral Penal (COIP). In this context, it is precise to know how the country's press is handling the subject, and if it is contributing to the education of the society with their publications. For this reason, it has been planned to do the analysis of the content of the news about this subject, published in the studied newspapers. Among the most relevant results is highlighted that: exists an important quantity of sensationalism in the news that mention femicides, and at the same time, a spectacularization in at least the half of the found news; in consequence, it is consider that does not exists a relevant contribution by the communication media when diffusing this legal figure or in the education of de public about this subject.
