Abstract

The purpose of this research was to recycle banana plant fiber, which was obtained from the trunk of the plant, which is generally removed. For this it was necessary to follow a process that began from the stage of collection, treatment for the disposal of organic waste, and different ways of locating the fiber inside the matrix formed by plaster and lime. The results of the tests allowed to verify that the banana fiber improves its mechanical and physical characteristics, as it was experimented with test tubes without fiber and then with the banana fiber to make the comparison. After performing the laboratory tests it was established that "Plasterboard with banana fiber" complied with the technical specifications needed to be applied in construction.
