Abstract

Mining research and development is one of the most important sources of income and sustained progress for a people, a country and the world. The Clay Quarry of the Divino Niño Crafts Association is located in the Cera neighborhood, Taquil parish, Loja canton; To the north-west of the city of Loja and at a distance of approximately 22 km. Considering that the exploitation carried out in this sector does not have an environmental or sustainable technical management, the Universidad Técnica Particular de Loja through its Pre-professionals has arranged to design projects for the benefit of the community; In this case of the neighborhood Cera.En this study was realized the design for the exploitation of the clay deposit of the district Cera and its reserves were calculated; With the respective topographic and geological survey, the location and characterization of outcrops based on study formats, location of GPS sampling points, and the description and characterization of stratigraphy Of each of the openings. By means of the analysis of results it is determined that the ideal exploitation system is the Quarry Method.
