Description: This research was conducted in Guayaquil, Ecuador, in order to investigate the linguistic phenomenon of anglicisms used in Ecuadorian magazines. To collect the necessary data, this research was focused on six magazines that belonged to three different variables: cultural magazines, scholarly magazines, and general interest magazines. Two samples were taken for each variable, and a corpus with 93 anglicisms was elaborated. Anglicisms were collected through a deep revision of each one of the samples. They were classified in a chart according to the sample in which they were found and the context they were used in. Results were quantified in order to establish the amount of anglicisms found through the study, and 30 anglicisms were analyzed from their syntactic, semantic, and morphological context. This study allow us realize there is a representative number of anglicisms that are used by Ecuadorian magazines, even in most cases those anglicisms have a Spanish equivalent that can be used to avoid the unnecessary use of them.
