Beschreibung: The theme of this research is “The Use of Supplementary Materials for Teaching Children in EFL Classes”. Its purpose is to find out whether teachers used or not supplementary materials in their EFL classes, and if they did, analyze this material according to pertinence, appropriateness and quality. This work was developed in a public elementary school in the city of Cuenca, Ecuador. To develop the field research, ten EFL classes were observed. Three grades were selected: fourth grade, fifth grade and sixth grade. The methods used in this research were the qualitative and quantitative methods. The qualitative analysis consisted on the description of supplementary materials used during the observed classes in the three different levels; four, fifth and sixth grade at a public elementary school in Cuenca. The quantitative analysis was related to the frequency and reasons of use of the materials. The main conclusion obtained from the analysis was that the teacher in the three classes did not use a variety of supplementary materials. In fact, the only supplementary material she used was the whiteboard.
