Análisis comparativo de diferentes índices para evaluar la calidad de agua del río Yaguachi perteneciente a la cuenca de río Puyango

Abstract

Abstract: The objective of the present research is to evaluate the water quality of the Yaguachi River based on the application of three water quality indices, therefore historical information from 2015 provided by SENAGUA and sampling data carried out in 2022 were used, the WQI were obtained by integrating the physical, chemical, and microbiological parameters necessary for each method. With the GQI, a value between 75 and 83 was obtained, corresponding to an intermediate to good quality, the WAWQI produced values between 19.7 and 308.97, corresponding to an excellent and inadmissible quality, respectively, and according to the CCME-WQI, it gave values between 45 and 78 corresponding to a category between poor and regular. It was concluded that the water quality of the Yaguachi River for 2022 presents an WQI of 53.8 corresponding to a bad quality with respect to the conservation of aquatic life. Through the correlation of meteorological variables, it was determined that fecal coliforms present a strong direct correlation with respect to temperature.
