Intervención psicológica en un caso de artritis idiopática juvenil

Abstract

Abstract: In the following case, an adolescent patient suffering from a chronic disease known as juvenile idiopathic arthritis, which symptoms aroused in her childhood, was diagnosed when she was eleven years old. After the evaluation process, it was determined thatthe patient presented Z61.3 Such event leads to the loss of self-esteem in childhood as a psychological diagnosis, based on the ICD-10 criteria. Currently, the adolescent does not report symptoms of any psychological disorder, and she states that she feels comfortable in the different areas of her life: academic, social, personal, and family. A psychological intervention plan is proposed that includes techniques with a cognitive-behavioral approach, framed in psychoeducation, self-esteem reinforcement, self-concept, self-care, assertiveness and problem-solving training. As a result, all the aforementioned areas were improved, which generates an increase in her quality of life and emotional well-being.
