Abstract: Silver and Bronze by Fernando Chaves Reyes is the first indigenous novel post-independence movement of a romantic nature, the plot interweaves the passion of Raúl and Manuela, a love that marks an abysmal racial inequality; the ephemeral joy for the holidays costumbristas and the constant pain of the indigenous people caused by a feudal-capitalist system of the time that implants lags of all kinds and its notable impact on today's society. The exploitation structure is complemented by various agents representing the government; the church, through the parish priest and his annexes, linked to a malicious society that oppresses work, word and omission against the servile and submissive personality of the indigenous, sadness that manifests itself with songs and melodies from its rounders that echo among the fields and mountains. Injustice translates into rebellion and this into revenge for the offense committed to Manuela by the boss. It transcends the noble work of the teacher whose purpose is awaken in the Indian the value of freedom, the emancipation that seeks to claim in pro of their rights for centuries relegated.
