Abstract

Abstract: This paper collects information about the Case of Montesinos Mejía v. Ecuador, in which highlights the illegal and arbitrary detention of the alleged victim in 1992. From this investigation, it can be deduced that acts of torture and lack of judicial guarantees in the criminal proceedings under analysis, which is why the case was submitted to the Inter American Court of Human Rights for having found evidence of violations of the fundamental rights of Mr. Mario Montesinos Mejía. This case is analyzed, in order to link it with the objective 16 of the Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs), which refers to the protection of Peace, Justice and solid Institutions, with which the protection of the rights of access to justice of quality, legal security, effective judicial protection, rights of participation, communication and information, right to good public administration, rights that have been recognized as violated and the State is expected to repair them to the affected part.
