Abstract: | Abstract: The present research work about Factors that influence high school students' English oral communication skills in Ecuadorian face-to-face learning environments, aims to determine the factors both linguistic and emotional that influence in high school students' English oral communication skills. The method was mixed and the techniques the observation, survey as well as the interview. It was carried out in a public school in the city of Quito. For this study 40 students (26 men and 14 women) registered in second year of bachillerato participated. They were15 and 16 years of age. The 40 students were given two questionnaires: one concerning linguistic factors and another concerning emotional factors. The survey included 12 items regarding linguistic factors and 14 items about the emotional factors. In the same way, an observation was made while the teacher was teaching his class. Additionally, a teacher and five students were interviewed. The results found indicated that the linguistic factors are the ones that mostly influence students when developing their speech in the classroom. |
Description: | Resumen: El presente trabajo de investigación con el tema Factors that influence high school students' English oral communication skills in Ecuadorian face-to-face learning environments. Ayuda a determinar los factores tanto lingüísticos como emocionales que influencian en las habilidades orales en estudiantes de Bachillerato. El método fue mixto y las técnicas la observación, encuesta así como la entrevista. Se lo realizó en una escuela pública de la ciudad de Quito. Para este estudio 40 estudiantes (26 hombres y 14 mujeres) inscritos en segundo de bachillerato participaron. Ellos tenían 15 y 16 años. A los 40 estudiantes se les realizó dos cuestionarios; uno referente a factores lingüísticos y otro referente a factores emocionales. El cuestionario incluyó 12 items referentes a factores lingüísticos y 14 elementos acerca de factores emocionales De igual manera se realizó una observación mientras el docente impartía su clase. Adicionalmente, un docente y cinco estudiantes fueron entrevistados. Los resultados indican que para estos estudiantes los factores lingüísticos influyen mucho al momento de desarrollar su habla en el aula. |
