Abstract

Abstract: In the present investigation, the objective was to analyze the profitability of the cultivation of tomato in southern Ecuador. This study was developed under a methodology of type descriptive with a qualitative and quantitative approach and a non-experimental design, in which The survey was used as a research technique, applied to small farmers and tomato producers in order to obtain relevant information for the study. The results obtained show that, first of all, in a scenario where, The costs involved in the production of one hectare of tomato are $8,280.37. By On the other hand, an NPV of USD $35,855 and an IRR of 269% were obtained for the proposed investment. in a scenario in which the farmer is the owner of his own land. As conclusions, These findings suggest that tomato cultivation in the analyzed region may be highly profitable for small farmers and producers, which could have a positive impact in their economic sustenance and in the agricultural development of the area.
