Abstract: Cumbaratza Parish head whose parish bears the same name, located in The Province of Zamora Chinchipe is a rural neighborhood which has a greater number of contemporary housing (brick and block) and vernacular housing is still preserved (bareque). This study seeks to compare the hygrothermal benefits of vernacular homes of Cumbaratza with the current ones, as well as the identification of construction techniques, materiality, etc., for this purpose the Cumbaratza home is first analyzed with its context and in this way establish the variables that influence its architecture. Subsequently, the numerical simulation of the typical homes is carried out in the Design program. Buider to be able to determine the thermal comfort of the homes and in this way it can be create a knowledge base of vernacular building traditions that will include information on energy performance of each of the construction techniques.
