Abstract

Abstract: The reflection on social values, children s rights and social awareness through the book: Tears of Angels by Edna Iturralde, contributes significantly to the understanding of the explicit and implicit ideas tha the author covers in her moving story which touches the sensitivity of the human being. By showing that palpable reality in our environment through the children s novel and with the use of a simple language that facilitates its comprehension, it fulfills the ethical, emotional and social function of Children s and Young Adult Literature, since it transmits values, rights, social habits and generates sentimental bonds betweem the reader, the characters and the environment. Therefore, this work is a support to the author s intention, that of awakening the social conscience and sensitizing the heart to make visible the children living in vulnerability situations, who suffer the consequences of a cold and indolent society that pursues their welfare and does not help their fellow men.
