Abstract: | Abstract: The present study titled Factors that influence high school students' English oral communication skills in face-to-face learning Environments in Ecuador, aims to to determine what type of factors, whether linguistic or emotional, affect the skills oral presentations of the students of a public institution in Quito. The participants were forty first-year high school students who, using a mixed methodology A questionnaire and an interview were applied as instruments. Additionally, it was used an observation sheet and a questionnaire was applied to the teacher. The results revealed that The students had a low level of English, little exposure to the language, and little opportunity to participate, which caused linguistic factors to emerge such as maternal interference, lack of vocabulary, lack of knowledge of grammar, poor pronunciation and fluency. With Regarding emotional factors, it was found that anxiety about holding a conversation, as well as answering qualified tests first, were the factors that most It affected them. After an analysis, it was determined that the linguistic factors were those that but they influenced. |
Description: | Resumen: El presente estudio titulado Factors that influence high school students' English oral communication skills in face-to-face learning Environments in Ecuador, tiene como objetivo de terminar que tipo de factores, ya sean lingüísticos o emocionales, afectan a las habilidades orales de los estudiantes de una institución fiscomisional en Quito. Los participantes fueron cuarenta estudiantes de primero de bachillerato a quienes utilizando una metodología mixta se les aplicó un cuestionario y una entrevista como instrumentos. Adicionalmente, se utilizó una hoja de observación y se aplico un cuestionario al profesor. Los resultados revelaron que los estudiantes tenían un nivel bajo de inglés, poca exposición al idioma y escasa oportunidad para participar, lo que ocasiono que surjan factores lingüísticos como la interferencia materna, falta de vocabulario, desconocimiento de la gramatica, pobre pronunciación y fluidez. Con respecto a los factores emocionales, se encontró que la ansiedad a sostener una conversación, así como a responder antes pruebas calificadas, fueron los factores que más les afectaba. Luego de un análisis se determino que los factores lingusticos fueron los que mas influenciaron. |
