Abstract

Abstract: The purpose of this work is to analyze the effects associated between the level of schooling and income inequality of families in the Motupe neighborhood, in the city of Loja, through the application of surveys and an ordinal regression model, which allowed us to determine whether the level of education positively influences family income. The results of the surveys show predominant economic and demographic characteristics, with the common level of education being higher than university and the frequent income level ranging between $501 to $1000, finally the regression analysis shows that education positively influences income, being The "Postgraduate" level of education has the greatest probability of high income; in addition, an increase in spending on food is related to higher income. This relationship between educational level and higher income supports the premise of economic theory and it is verified that the level of schooling has a positive impact on family income in the Motupe neighborhood.
