| dc.description | Resumen: El presente estudio titulado El uso de material auténtico a través de WhatsApp en la enseñanza de habilidades auditivas en entornos fuera del aula de inglés tiene como objetivo determinar el impacto del uso de material auténtico entregado a través de WhatsApp para mejorar las habilidades auditivas de los estudiantes de inglés fuera del aula. Este estudio se realizó en una institución privada de Quito, con 30 estudiantes cuyo nivel de ingles era B1. Se utilizó una metodología mixta que incluye la obtención de datos cualitativos y cuantitativos. Los instrumentos fueron cuestionario sobre percepción de los estudiantes, cuestionario sobre las ventajas y desventajas de utilizar contenido auténtico vía WhatsApp, un cuestionario al docente y una hoja de observación. Además, se creó un grupo de WhatsApp en el que se implementaron seis actividades de escucha para los estudiantes utilizando videos como material auténtico en conjunto con actividades de cuestionamiento. Los resultados revelaron que los estudiantes percibieron que las actividades realizadas con material auténtico a través de WhatsApp son beneficiosas para mejorar sus habilidades de escucha. | es_ES |
| dc.description.abstract | Abstract: The present study titled, The use of authentic material through WhatsApp in teaching listening skills in EFL out-of-classroom settings, aims to determine the impact of using authentic material delivered through WhatsApp in enhancing the listening skills of EFL learners in out-of-classroom settings. This study was conducted in a private educational institution in Quito, Ecuador, with 30 students in the second year of bachillerato at the B1 level of English. A mixed methodology was used that includes obtaining qualitative and quantitative data. The instruments were questionnaire on students perception, questionnaire regarding the advantages and disadvantages of utilizing authentic content via WhatsApp, a questionanire to the teacher, and an observation sheet. Additionally, a WhatsApp group was created in which six listening activities were implemented for the students using videos as authentic material in conjunction with questioning activities. The results revealed that the students perceived the activities conducted with authentic material via WhatsApp to be beneficial in improving their listening skills. | es_ES |
