Incidencia de la pandemia en el Rendimiento de los Estudiantes del Bachillerato General Unificado de la Unidad Educativa Particular Henry Dunant en el Cantón Rumiñahui de la Provincia de Pichincha

Abstract

Abstract: The impact of the pandemic on students' academic performance has been evidenced globally, and this study allows us to understand how these challenges have affected the academic performance of students. The research focuses on students of the Unified General Baccalaureate (BGU) of the "Henry Dunant" Private Educational Unit in the Rumiñahui canton of the province of Pichincha. The objective is to determine the incidence of pandemic on the performance of students of the Unified General Baccalaureate (BGU), needing academic records and interviews as tools to have accurate information. Implementing a qualitative, descriptive and documentary approach methodology, using the interview a teacher from the educational institution and the academic records of the students valuable information was collected. Upon analyzing all the data, it was concluded that the lack of access technological resources and internet connection was identified as a key factor that affected negatively academic performance. Socioeconomic inequalities played a role significant, exacerbating learning difficulties. In the students' notes found positive scores, highlighting that the male gender had a constant increase during the 4 years analyzed, starting from 8.12 and growing until reaching 8.39, while that the female gender had a continuous variation, between 8.81 and 8.91. Furthermore, the gender female stood out for having a little more than 0.50 hundredths between the different school years analyzed. Despite the challenges presented by the pandemic, resilience is observed significant among students, with a successful adaptation to virtual education.
