Abstract

Abstract: The research focuses on the relevance of access to justice and the need for effective institutions to safeguard human rights in Latin America, In accordance with the Sustainable Development Goals (SDG 16), an analysis of the ruling in the case of Guzmán Albarracín and others v. Ecuador by the Inter-American Court of Human Rights (IACHR). The work addresses the lack of access to justice and impunity in cases of violations of human rights, underlining the need to ensure this access regardless of origin or social status. The importance of improving judicial training, guaranteeing independence is highlighted of the judiciary and promote citizen participation. Furthermore, the research highlights the need to build a culture of respect for human rights and justice, as well as promoting transparency in public and private institutions. In summary, the thesis contributes to reflecting on access to justice and institutional strengthening to guarantee the protection of human rights in Latin America.
