Abstract: The present essay work, titled Reflections on the Literary Influences in the Work The Shadow of the Wind, by Carlos Ruiz Zafón, arises from a personal interest in analyzing the narrative techniques and stylistic devices most used by Zafón. Parallel to his work, the study explores the capacity of books to shape and transform the identity of the characters. It is for this reason that argumentative text is based on the way in which the author pays homage to the power of literature and the importance of memory, which is mainly developed in the post-war Barcelona that manages to keep the reader captivated and generate empathy with Daniel's curiosity and detective quest. The focus of this essay is based on a qualitative understanding of the work, from which it is concluded that Ruiz Zafón, driven by his love and passion for books, constructs a narrative that tells an exciting story in tribute to literature and at the same time calls on readers to preserve books as cultural heritage.
