The use of authentic material through WhatsApp in teaching listening skills in EFL out-of-classroom settings.

Abstract

Abstract: The topic of this research is the use of authentic materials through WhatsApp outside of the classroom. Its objective is to determine the impact of technology to improve skills auditory. The research was carried out in a private institution located in Quinche, Pichincha with the participation of 10 second year high school students using a mixed method. Using the instruments used, the impact of the materials was analyzed sent outside the classroom through WhatsApp in English as a language students foreigner. Through a survey, the perceptions of each participant were analyzed and Data was also collected to know opinions about the advantages and disadvantages of the use of this tool. An interview was also applied to the teacher to find out his perception about the use of authentic materials. Finally, the use of authentic materials delivered via WhatsApp showed a positive impact and the method approaches mixed studies suggested that integrating technology with authentic materials can improve effectively language learning.
