Abstract

Abstract: The purpose of this research is to analyze Sustainable Development Goal 16, which seeks to promote peace, justice and institutional strengthening. According to the literature, it is of great importance to achieve this goal, as it plays a key role in the achievement of the other goals. It is essential to ensure this specific goal in order to facilitate the achievement of the others. To achieve the Sustainable Development Goals, it is necessary to have strong and impartial institutions that promote transparency, accountability and the fight against corruption. This is the only way to ensure that resources are used appropriately. The Constitutional Court of Ecuador issued judgment No. 2957-17-EP/22 on November 16, 2022, in this particular case, the Court rejects the charges related to the alleged violation of the right to defense, the guarantee of motivation and the lack of adherence to the principle of congruency in criminal matters with respect to the first instance judgment. After concluding the study, it has been determined that it is vital to strengthen the implementation of SDG 16.
