| Abstract: | Abstract: The study, titled Using Authentic Material via WhatsApp to Teach EFL Listening Skills Outside the Classroom, aimed to determine the impact of using authentic material delivered via WhatsApp to improve EFL learners listening skills outside the classroom. This study was conducted in a public school in Loja, Ecuador, involving 24 second-year high school (BGU) students and their English teacher. The research employed a mixed-method approach, combining qualitative and quantitative data collection methods. Techniques such as observations, surveys, and interviews were used. Various instruments, including observation sheets and questionnaires, facilitated data collection. The study concluded that WhatsApp s features and benefits allow students to easily access a wide variety of authentic materials, including videos, podcasts, audios, and other resources. The flexibility of accessing these materials anytime, anywhere is a significant advantage. |
| Description: | Resumen: El estudio, titulado "El uso de material auténtico a través de WhatsApp para enseñar habilidades auditivas en inglés como lengua extranjera fuera del aula", tuvo como objetivo determinar el impacto del uso de material auténtico entregado a través de WhatsApp para mejorar las habilidades auditivas de los estudiantes de inglés como lengua extranjera fuera del aula. Este estudio se realizó en una escuela pública de Loja, Ecuador, en el participaron 24 estudiantes de segundo año de secundaria (BGU) y su profesor de inglés. La investigación empleó un enfoque de método mixto, combinando métodos de recolección de datos cualitativos y cuantitativos. Se utilizaron técnicas como observaciones, encuestas y entrevistas. Y diversos instrumentos, incluidas las hojas de observación y los cuestionarios, que facilitaron la recopilación de datos. El estudio concluyó que las características y beneficios de WhatsApp permiten a los estudiantes acceder fácilmente a una amplia variedad de materiales auténticos, incluidos videos, podcasts, audios y otros recursos. La flexibilidad de acceder a estos materiales en cualquier momento y en cualquier lugar es una ventaja significativa. |
