Abstract: In this thesis, the Sustainable Development Goals are addressed as pillars fundamental to guarantee human rights. It emphasizes the importance of SDG number 16, which highlights the need to promote just, peaceful and inclusive and provide access to justice for all. It is argued that the application Careful compliance with this objective is essential to prevent situations such as those that occurred in the case of Velásquez Paiz and Others v. The Inter-American Court of Human Rights against Guatemala. The importance of effective and responsible institutions is highlighted for this case regarding the protection of human rights by the state.
