Systematization of Pedagogical Experiences in the EFL Teaching Training Program

Abstract

Abstract: This study focuses on the systematization of pedagogical experiences in the EFL teacher training program, with the aim of consolidating the experiences acquired during the pre-professional practices for the benefit of both practice and theory. Ten EFL teachers and eleven students participated in the study. Observations were carried out in the subjects of Practicum 1 and in the classes taught during Pre-Professional Practices 1 and 2 in Quito. The methodology used was the systematization of experiences. This approach was based on the observation of three classes in Basic General Education (EGB) and three classes in High School, followed by the teaching of three classes in EGB and three classes in High School. Each class was explained in terms of planning, language, and other relevant aspects. Classes and lesson plans were analyzed using observation files. Due to the Covid-19 pandemic, all observations and teaching activities were conducted online. The main conclusion is that, although most teachers planned their lessons, there was a notable lack of knowledge and experience in assessment.
