Los ecuatorianismos como elementos de la identidad cultural y social en el ámbito educativo

Abstract

The regional and ethnical diversity in Ecuador reflects the use of its words, which are highlighted in the Sierra region, in which is very common listening “quichuismos” or words represented in “Quichua”. It reflects the linguistics structure that goes beyond regions. The surveyed population is from the Sierra region, Cotopaxi province, canton Latacunga, which includes women and men between eighteen and sixty seven years old. These are people who hold professional degrees and people who do not hold professional degrees. Among this population we took an example of thirty people, using it as a mix method and applying a survey as instrument due to the characteristics and objectives of the investigation. This investigation is a narrative type because the collected information is data about the frequency, usage and validity of the investigated words. As a conclusion, most of the researched words were recognized by the surveyed people, and only few words have lost their usage and validity. It is important to high light that Ecuador is a multicultural country and many words are part of the ecuadorian heritage in an exclusive way. However, these words have not been properly identified as ecuatorianismos (linguistic expression or construction characteristics of the variety of Spanish spoken in Ecuador) because their use is widespread and very common in everyday speech.
