dc.descriptionA nivel mundial, el pobre conocimiento sobre los búhos ha supuesto un peligro para este grupo de especies puesto que los mitos que giran en torno a estas aves. En Ecuador existen significativos vacíos de información sobre el conocimiento cultural y popular de los búhos y lechuzas. Es por esa razón que el presente trabajo busca explorar sobre el conocimiento, percepciones y actitudes que la gente tiene sobre estas aves. Para ello, a través de un muestreo estratificado por edades, se aplicaron 375 encuestas a los moradores de la parroquia Malacatos, provincia de Loja. Los resultados indican que la mayoría de encuestados poseen un conocimiento básico de los búhos que incluye su identificación como aves, sus cantos y los lugares donde habitan. Además, los resultados sugieren que los búhos se perciben como aves de mal agüero (mal presagio) y que las actitudes de las personas, cuando ven o escuchan a un búho o lechuza, son de temor o miedo. Finalmente, se encontró una tendencia entre los encuestados para indicar que los búhos son importantes para el ambiente.es_ES
dc.description.abstractWorldwide, poor knowledge about owls has been a danger to this group of species since the myths that revolve around these birds. In Ecuador there are significant gaps in information about the cultural and popular knowledge of owls and owls. It is for this reason that the present work seeks to explore the knowledge, perceptions and attitudes that people have about these birds. To do this, through a stratified sampling by ages, 375 surveys were applied to the residents of the Malacatos parish, province of Loja. The results indicate that the majority of respondents possess a basic knowledge of owls that includes their identification as birds, their songs and the places where they live. In addition, the results suggest that owls are perceived as birds of ill omen (bad omen) and that the attitudes of people, when they see or hear an owl or owl, are fear or fear. Finally, a tendency was found among respondents to indicate that owls are important for the environment.es_ES
