Análisis del desempleo en el Ecuador. Causas, consecuencias y posibles soluciones

Abstract

Abstract: Unemployment in Ecuador is a structural phenomenon and a chronic problem, that impacts in its social and economic development. The main cause for which, unemployment has historically persisted in the country, is due to the neoliberal policy that the governments have adopted throughout their mandate periods. Unemployment in conjunction with underemployment, directly impact the internal economy; as they do not satisfy the demand for employment given by the lack of plenty work placements and the low productivity, which is evidenced by a decreasing GDP. On a daily basis, underprivileged Ecuadorian population has to face several critical issues regarding unemployment, such as: poverty, social inequity, low education, social insecurity and other problems with a high social cost. It is imperative then, to drive the country to sustainable development through specific economic policies, where the State participates to ensure a high degree of coherence, coordination and integration among the fiscal and monetary measures, and at the same time involves the private enterprise for value generation and to adopt strategic drivers in favor of the economic development of the country.
