Percepción y opinión de los habitantes de Piñas sobre realidad socio - ambiental.

Abstract

Perception is the way in which each individual values and appreciates their environment through the senses; therefore, perception work offers governments information that identifies the needs of citizens. With this background the present work sought to know what is the perception that the inhabitants of the canton Piñas have regarding the socio-environmental reality of their canton regarding environment, water, markets, quality of life, citizen participation and equity. To reach this goal, a survey was applied to 379 people who were randomly selected in public sectors. The results suggest that the majority of respondents consider it very important to take care of the environment. Regarding water, they said that quality remains the same. In markets, the majority of participants said that they prefer to buy cheap and fresh products, and in quality of life there was a tendency to feel safe in their canton trusting people. In citizen participation, they revealed that they did not know this power. Finally, the majority of respondents consider that there are still some gender inequalities, with ethnic and sexual minorities being more discriminated against.
