Producción obtención de extractos, aislamiento y caracterización de metabolitos secundarios de silybum marianum L. Gaertn con posible actividad antitumoral

Abstract

Abstract: The species Silybum marianum (L.) Gaertn was collected in the Los Geranios neighborhood, in the city of Loja, canton Loja; belonging to the Province of Loja. From the aerial parts of the plant species, 3 extracts were obtained with solvents, such as: hexane (Hex), ethyl acetate (AcOEt) and methanol (MeOH), being the MeOH extract the one with the highest yield with 11.96%. The 3 extracts were evaluated for cytotoxic activity (inhibition of cell growth) by MTT in 3 human cancer cell lines, MCF-7 (breast cancer), D-384 (cerebral astrocytoma), PC-3 (prostate cancer). The extracts with the highest percentage of cell growth inhibition were AcOEt and MeOH with 37.37 and 32.34, respectively, in the cell line of cerebral astrocytoma, which presented a cellular inhibition of 15.54 and 16.03% respectively for the prostate cancer cell line. The extracts were worked through techniques of isolation, identification and characterization of secondary metabolites. From the HexF18FP12 fraction of the hexanic extract it was possible to isolate, characterize and identify the acetate of Moretenol.
