Perfil epidemiológico del servicio de consulta externa de cirugía general del Hospital Isidro Ayora de Loja durante el año 2013

Abstract

The work presented below is developed at the Regional Hospital Isidro Ayora. It consists of elaborating the epidemiological profile in the area of external consultation of surgery of the year 2013; the information collected was taken from the clinical records and the database of the hospital. Analyzing: sociodemographic characteristics, frequent reasons for consultation, causes of morbidity, and secondary and tertiary diagnoses; By means of a transversal, descriptive and retrospective study. It stands out 1070 patients as approved sample for the study. The 51.7% of patients attended belong to the female gender. The age group between 20-34 years was the most affected with morbidities. The most frequent occupation was: educational in 22.0%. 64.9% of the patients came from Loja. The main reason for consultation was: digestive signs and symptoms in 19.3%. Leading the main causes of morbidity is: inguinal hernias with 44.4%. Secondary diagnoses were present in 10% and tertiary diagnoses in 0.63%, with arterial hypertension being frequent comorbidity.
