Abstract

The present investigation include the study of the natural edge of the western center, in order redefine it as an articulating element of the city, through urban articulation strategies of intervention at the edges, based on the recognition of the territory, Loja as case of study of Andean intermediate city, through a across a cartographic analysis (from above) allowing to diagnose its physical and define strategies based on its Andean ecology (colinar city) and as the second point, a socio-economic analysis (from below), directing confronting the ways of living, problems, issues and characters of the place. Finally there appears the proposal to define the natural edge in the ecological corridor Shushuhuayco, as a dynamic space of urban and natural relations, an opportunity to strengthen the ecological structure and the environmental system of the city, developing scenes of preservation and environmental conservation, whose function is complement by a network of green corridors created over the urban fabric, developing a natural diversity (fauna and flora), thus strengthening the relationships and natural processes between city - edge - nature.
