Abstract

Abstract:The present investigative work includes a theoretical-conceptual part and a practical-creative part. In the theoretical part of the work, a reflection is made regarding the Zen philosophy, the Andean worldview and the rakú. Once the conceptual part is defined, the practical investigation will be carried out from the investigation of the local clays to the achievement of a paste resistant to thermal shock, and then the different possibilities offered by the Rakú technique will be explored, both in finishes, textures, and their value aesthetic, formal and conceptual. The final works are based on the characters of the Christmas festival of the Saraguro canton. Each piece will show the effects obtained through this ancient Japanese technique.
