Abstract:Going deeper into the study of a culture that is so close and at the same time so little known is a challenge for any artist-designer. The present degree work proposes the creation of a graphic proposal based on the investigation of the Mayo-Chinchipe Culture and the morphological analysis of its iconography, with the purpose of applying it to leather goods objects. The methodology of formal analysis of the pieces begins with the selection and geometric reworking of the iconography, to obtain and classify independent modules and basic visual units; This process allowed us to generate morphological variants for the development and production of new compositions. With the variants obtained during the design phase, the creation of the leather goods proposal was achieved, which proposes the making of three functional leather objects and the application of the morphological variants using two decorative techniques: laser engraving and machine embroidery. . The results achieved constitute a small sample of the enormous creative possibilities that design can bring to the leather industry.
