Evaluación de la superficie del pavimento de la vía Loja-Cuenca tramo 34+000-68+700

Abstract

Abstract:The pavements are designed to provide safety and comfort in vehicular traffic, despite this it is common to find deteriorations on the roads that reduce the level of service. Considering this, there is a technical evaluation of pavements that allows determining the condition of the pavement and propose corrective measures to these situations. The objective of this research is to evaluate the condition of the Loja-Cuenca road in the section of abscissa 34+000-68+700 applying the methodology of Pavement Condition Index (PCI), based on standard ASTM D6433-11. In order to evaluate the surface of the pavement, the visual inspection of the sample units was performed, identifying the class, severity, and density of the faults. In addition, the annual average daily traffic (TPDA) was determined to establish a relationship with the PCI obtained. The average PCI value of the section was 70.34 points, which is equivalent to a very good state, and the TPDA value is 2150 mixed vehicles/day. Finally, an intervention strategy was proposed for the rehabilitation of the road based on the type of fault identified.
