The use of technological resources for teaching English in a private high school in the city of Loja

Abstract

Abstract:The present study was carried out in a private high school in the city of Loja, Ecuador and aim at investigating the Use of Technological Resources for Teaching English in a Private High School in the City of Loja. Its purpose is to determine the influence of the use of Information and Communication Technology (ICT) and educational applications in the classroom as a tool in teaching English at a private high school. For collecting data, a survey was applied to 12 teachers that range from 25 to 65 years old, 288 students from 8th year of basic to 3rd year senior ranged from 11 to 24 years old, and an interview was done to the director and the English coordinator of the institution. The methods used in this study were quantitative and qualitative. The obtained results in this study showed that teachers and students present a high use of technology for learning English. However, there is low use of educational apps for teaching and learning this language, the most used apps are only English dictionaries and games.
