Analysis of EFL teachers skills, attitudes, and use regarding ICT in Ecuadorian private high schools

Abstract

Abstract:This research focused on the Analysis of EFL teachers’ skills, attitudes, and ICT use in Ecuadorian private high schools. This investigation was carried out in two private Ecuadorian high schools in Ambato city. The participants were ten English private teachers from these establishments. The data collection for this research consisted on surveys and interviews that provided quantitative and qualitative results which were analyzed by using Microsoft Excel. The finding of this study provides information about the main important aspects that English teachers must have in order to offer students technological settings in the classrooms. Likewise, the interviews’ results show that teachers have positive attitudes toward the integration of ICT in their EFL classrooms. On the other hand, teachers pointed out lack of ICT training that impedes develop the ICT resources in an efficient way in their pedagogical practices. The teaching of the English language promotes the efficiency of the use of new technologies that facilitate the performance of both students and teachers, making the teaching objective fulfill its main purpose that the student is trained for optimal performance.
